During the 1992 Presidential campaign, Bill Clinton famously proclaimed, “It’s the economy stupid!”
More recently, Bruce Lipton, in his landmark book, “The Biology of Belief,” borrows the idea. He decries, “It’s the environment, stupid!” Lipton’s mantra flies in the face of conventional wisdom in the field of biology. But now, with the fast-emerging field of epigenetics, Lipton and others are being vindicated in their view of what matters most in life and health.
EPIGENETICS AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Epigenetics, which means outside of, or above genetics, is a fast-growing field of biology that places the environment first. In a nutshell, epigenetics explains our genes’ ability to adapt to their surrounding milieu. For Lipton and an increasing number of science experts, epigenetics is the prime mover in determining our health.
HUMAN GENOME
Ever since the immense publicity and popularity of the Human Genome Project (1989-2003), most of us have been captivated by the notion of understanding the mysteries of life through the mapping of the human genome. There is infinite appeal in vesting power in our own DNA in determining health. We wanted to believe that by understanding the human genome, it would explain and predict our state of our health and susceptibility to disease.
Yet, Lipton points out that only about 2% of our own DNA is actually involved in passing along traits and propensities. Another 80% of our DNA, once referred to as “junk,” actually is crucial in orchestrating the intricate dance of health and life. Why? Because this non-coding DNA responds and adapts to changes in our environment. It then shape-shifts intricate cellular responses to threats and stresses posed from the outside of the organism. This organizing DNA helps us cope and adapt to the changing world around us!
The exciting field of epigenetics is rapidly tipping conventional wisdom on its ear. In so doing, it explains why disease is neither predestined by genetic code; nor is health guaranteed by our own particular DNA. We are not fated to suffer from disease. Rather we hold the promise of health within our own hands.
But it’s also about taking action. Our goal at Heroics is to take a journey together to discover and share what we can do about our health by taking concrete action and making good choices. Check out the Heroics Challenge™ for ideas on how to transform your own health.
At Heroics, we aim to identify and provide real solutions to help resolve negative health impacts that arise from our diet, lifestyle and environment. In the world of biology, these three really boil down to the environment of our cells. In the end, just like Lipton says, “it’s the environment, stupid!”

I like the width of this post better. Though the centering in the previous version looked cooler. Use the line:During the 1992 Presidential campaign, Bill Clinton famously proclaimed, “It’s the economy stupid!” as the opener in lager text. Then put the next line into the smaller font paragraph. Can you leave room on the right side to feature products, other articles and maybe host a poll in the future?
Could we shorten the final section on darker gray to just the last paragraph?
Hope for Life!
Epigenetics also includes the influence of the Speciel Mind for humanity is more than their genetics. Sheldrake calls it Morphic Resonance, but we call it the Speciel Mind, and every sort of animal has its own, which we see more clearly in them as instinct. Our conscience is really our Speciel Mind’s counseling of us, and is, therefore, our connection to God. He can actually change our genetics through the “information” He gives the Speciel Mind. He can also guide us to understand by guiding our learning, as we have experienced. He guided me to understand peroxynitrite of which you spoke about on 5G seminar. Must be something to it.
We must not forget the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy, because a Mind alien to us continually tries to thwart us.
